The event was one of the largest regional one day fundraisers in the country with funds raised providing direct support to individuals and families affected by potentially life threatening medical conditions, charities that work with these people, and local hospitals.
Ben raised more than $10,000 of the total $105,000 that was raised on the night.
“I ended up being pretty keen on the idea and committed to it. It’s great to be able to challenge yourself and try something new, while also contributing to such a good cause,” Ben said.
Ray White Wollongong's Jacob Shalala also participated in the night, raising about $7,500 for charity. He got involved to push himself mentally and physically, while also raising money for a great cause.
Ray White Macarthur Group Associate Partner Brendan Lappan got involved as sponsor for his wife Eliza Walsh. Eliza stepped into the ring for Rare Cancers Australia at the Corporate Clash in August after a brain cancer diagnosis hit close to home.
"Our little niece who is the same age as our daughter has just fought her way through brain cancer. Eliza competed in an amateur boxing match with other participants to smash her goal of $10,000, raising $30,000 for the charity,” Brendan said.
With more than 850 people attending the event at Campbelltown Catholic Club, the night raised over $350,000 for the charity. Eliza was given the Fight of the Night award for showing the most spirit and was named the number one fundraiser for the Corporate Clash ever.
Eliza spent three months training every Tuesday and Thursday with additional PT sessions on top. And just to make it that much more impressive, Eliza still went ahead with the fight feeling a bit under the weather. It later turned out she had Influenza B, but nothing was going to stop her from making the night a success for Rare Cancer Australia.
