She said the definition of leadership was influencing others to follow them.

“Contrary to popular belief, leadership is not something you are born with, it’s a muscle you need to use and build over time,” she said.

“Leadership is about practising it and keeping an environment where everyone’s opinions matter. Everyone is a leader.

“It’s about thinking of others, not just you and bringing about the best in others.

“A leader is the one who leads from the front, sets an example, walks the talk, takes responsibility, influences others positively, and makes a difference to others,” he said.

“Most people remain in their comfort zone and struggle to develop leadership potential. “However, hard times produce the best leaders.

“Leadership must be aligned and never separate from the company values. Leadership skills must be taught.”

Ms Taylor outlined the traits of a leader.

“Leaders prioritise not panic, they welcome all ideas, they maintain a united front, they are pivotal. They are role models and set standards. They impact culture and use their influence positively.”

She spoke about being introduced to leadership by an early mentor in her career who said her qualities displayed the traits of a leader.

“You don’t have to be an extrovert. Many well known leaders are introverted but they are caring, curious, and courageous. As we evolve we need to check our behaviour. Are you inspiring, are you being influenced by the right people?”

Meanwhile, Ray White Western Australia property management business development executive Deborah Gidman (pictured above) asked everyone in her breakout ‘what is your superpower?’

“We are all great at something, but what is this? Time to channel your inner superhero!

“We cannot clone property managers because we are all unique, and completely different to each other, so we need to understand what your own personal superpower is?

“What do you do that comes naturally to you, and what are your areas of improvement? I think property managers are fantastic.”

Ms Gidman said knowledge and education was hugely important.

‘To improve is to change, so to be perfect is to change often,’ said Winston Churchill. “Change often, the goal is not to be perfect by the end, the goal is to be better today.”
