In 2022/23, 78 members were bestowed the prestigious Tony Fountain Auction Excellence award for meeting the high criteria.

This is not an award for auctioneers, but our members who use the method of sale to its greatest advantage for our sellers.

See the illustrious list of members here.

Auctions have been central to our most sacred of duties, to create competition for our vendors and achieve the best results for them.

Our commitment to auctions has been one of the most important reasons why we have become market leaders throughout Australia and New Zealand.

For those who were not lucky enough to know Tony, he was a relentless auctioneer. Ray White Chairman Brian White AO described him as a “legend”.

He practised as an agent for 52 years and held several positions within the group, including National Chief Auctioneer.

Over his career, Tony conducted more than 35,000 auctions across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia. He passed away in 2018, aged 72.

Tony had a big impact on the progress of Ray White Rural and Livestock in the early 2000s particularly in Central Queensland.

He was the Principal of Ray White Rural (Rockhampton) and was instrumental in setting up our websites and developing our online marketing experience.

Tony was one of the greatest auctioneers in Australia and we at Ray White were fortunate to have had his services Australia wide.

Tony’s great love of rural Australia is shown by his never ending support of the Shorthorn and Santa breeds as well as the Australian Quarter and Stock Horse Societies.

Tony could be summed up in his slogan “have gavel will travel”. We are so proud of our auction squad.
